Have you ever heard someone say, “I don’t need anyone, I can figure it – or life – out on my own”?
I used to feel this way often! Those were the days when I was high on determination but low on wisdom. Because the truth is none of us can figure life out on our own or go it alone. Even if you have a brilliant idea, you’ll need others to help execute it or invest in it or purchase it.
“All our lives we are in need, and others our in need of us,” explained George Odell.
“We need one another when we would accomplish some great purpose, and cannot do it alone…in the hour of our successes, when we look for someone to shoulder our triumphs [and] in the hour of our defeat when with encouragement we might endure and stand again,” continues Odell.
And sometimes, he continues, we need others in order “to be recalled to our best selves again.”
We need one another to learn and grow, be fulfilled and prosper, and to express our talents and abilities to their fullest.
This week, I invite you to consider your need for others. Are you connected?
